Atlas Crane Service is based out of Aurora, Wheeling, and Ottawa Illinois. We employ only Local 150 Operating Engineers, and we have Certified Signal Men available. We will tackle any of your crane needs, large or small. Atlas Crane is committed to safety while watching our customer’s bottom line. Atlas Crane proudly serves the entire Midwest.
Our Story
Atlas Crane was established in 2009 by current founder and CEO Zach Prentis.
Zach’s vision of starting his own crane company was set in motion with the purchase of the first crane which he parked in his driveway, from this beginning Atlas Crane was born.
Taking on projects small and large, Zach’s think big philosophy, vision and culture created tremendous company growth. By 2014 Zach grew the company to over 50 employees with 10 acres in Aurora Illinois.
By 2023 the company had grown to over 200 employees, operating the largest fleet of new Liebherr cranes in the country, serving customers from coast to coast.
The first 40-ton truck crane was the starting point to a larger fleet of cranes. Serving many of his neighbors in Batavia, the business started small.
After 7 years, the company moved to its current headquarters in Aurora, Illinois. Then opened additional branches in Peru, Illinois and Atlantic, Iowa to improve responsiveness to a rapidly growing Midwest Region.
In 2022 the company was acquired by Ares Management. With continued branch expansion throughout the country, Atlas Crane has grown to become a nation-wide provider.

The Atlas Crane mission has been transparent since inception, and the business remains highly aware of those roots.
Our goal and core focus remain the same. We will continue to honor and foster Zach’s vision for the company and its culture by delivering excellent service provided by top notch industry professionals.
We believe that safety and service is our #1 priority and each project (big or small) deserves the highest level of quality.
